A circular walk from Paddington Station.

We will catch the 9.41 train from Ashford to Waterloo and then get the Bakerloo line to Paddington. Please buy a paper return ticket to Paddington (Zone 1) so that you can use it on the train to Waterloo and on the underground. Using a senior railcard or a group save ticket for 3 or more people, the cost should be £13.30. You could opt for a Travelcard but that is £14.75.

If you get lost en-route, we will be meeting by the bronze statue of Paddington Bear at about 10.45. This is in Paddington Station by Platform 1 (see the map below).

The route takes us to Little Venice then along the Regents Canal to Regents Park. There we will walk via the Rose and Japanese gardens and then head back to Paddington via London Streets. We pass by Marylebone and Edgware Road underground stations, so there is the option to hop on the Bakerloo line at either of these to make the walk shorter.

Most of the walking is easy, on tarmac paths, so they should not be muddy. After Regents park, the walk will be on pavements.

Coffee/Lunch
The plan is to have coffee in a cafe (probably Gail's Bakery) near to Paddington Station at the start of the walk, and to leave the coffee shop by 11.30. Lunch will be about 2 hours after we leave the coffee shop and will be somewhere in Regents Park. You can bring a packed lunch if you like; there are park benches where you can eat this, but please bring something to sit on in case they are wet or you have to sit on the grass. There are two possible cafes for lunch/drinks. The first option is the Broad Walk cafe - they serve a limited range of pre-prepared focaccia, sausage rolls and cakes. The second option, 10 minutes further on is the Regents Bar and Kitchen - this is a bit nicer, serves a limited range of pre-prepared sandwiches, sausage rolls etc plus some hot food (e.g. pizzas). All the coffee and lunch stops have London prices (£4 for a coffee, £6-8 for a sandwich).

Toilets
Toilets are available on Waterloo station, Paddington station and the cafe. There are no toilets along the canal, but there are multiple options when we get to Regents Park.
