Outline:
Drive to Redbourn which is about a 1 hour drive from Staines.
Arriving at about 10:15, we park in car park in Hawkes Drive*. Then we walk 0.2 miles to The Queen of Herts Tea Shop on Redbourn High Street. The menu can be seen here: The Queen of Herts tea shop in Redbourn.
We leave the Tea Shop at 11:00 and walk a few yards to Lamb Lane bus stop to catch No. 34 bus at 11:10 to The Packhorse, a 17 minute journey.
We start the walk at The Packhorse at 11:30 approx.
At 3½ miles, (1 pm approximately), we come to The Spotted Dog pub in Flamstead, where we stop for lunch. There is an option to eat in the pub (see menus below) or you can bring a packed lunch (this can be eaten in a recreation ground just a few yards from the pub).
Allowing 1½ hours for lunch, we resume walking at 14:30.
At 6½ miles, (15:45 approx) we come to The Cricketers pub in Redbourn for drinks and toilet before walking the final 0.3 miles back to the cars parked in Hawkes Drive, Redbourn.
Leader: Dick B
- The initial suggested destination for parking is: Hawkes Drive, Redbourn, St. Albans AL3 7BL.
It looks like it should also be possible to park on certain stretches of Lamb Lane.
Redbourn High Steet might be another possibility although looking on Google Streetview, at least some of the spaces on the High Street have time restrictions on them.
We are aiming to rendezvous at around 10:15 at:
The Queen of Herts Tea Room,
71 High Street,
Redbourn,
Hertfordshire,
AL3 7LW
