NOTES following the recce on 1st April 26. This is not a flat walk. There are some flat sections, but there are a significant number of long slow inclines and some short steep hills. A lot of the paths are through woods and these are generally good but are very muddy in places and need some careful negotiation as some are very uneven and narrow. Poles are recommended There is a point where you may need to limbo under a low fallen tree if it is still very muddy in that area. There are a number of stiles in the first half of the walk, many of these are quite high.
The walk starts outside the Crown Inn, which is on The Green in Chiddingfold. If you arrive early, there is a very nice coffee shop (Elliot's) on the green where many of us will meet for refreshments/loos at the start. We will have lunch at the Ramster tea house after 4.5 miles - we recommend that you purchase lunch from them as unfortunately no picnics or packed lunches are allowed. The prices are reasonable. https://www.ramsterevents.com/visitor-information/tea-house
We did this walk at about the same time last year and the bluebells were wonderful, so we are hoping for the same! The pace (to make sure we get there for the lunch slot) will be 1.8mph average, which is not as slow as it sounds, especially given the terrain. This is a moderate pace, but turns into a brisk pace if we stop frequently!
The walk is based around a Fancy Free walk, but it will be led by Della and Mike (https://fancyfreewalks.org/Surrey/Ramsnest.pdf?version=jun24).
We plan to start the walk at 10.00 prompt. It is recommended arriving an extra 15 minutes earlier than you would normally plan to secure a parking space along The Green, and allow additional time to get to the Crown Inn start point if you have to park at School Lane or Woodside Road.
Here are all the #what3words identifiers. (It is highly recommend that you download the free app onto your smartphone if you haven't already).

It will probably be very slippery and muddy in places, so it is recommended to bring your walking poles if you have them. Some of the meadows will be squelchy underfoot, so waterproof your boots.
We will arrive at Ramsters Teahouse/Café between 12:30 and 1:00 with thick mud on our boots, but they have a very posh boot scraper brush outside the door.
They serve tasty snacks, soups etc at the cafe and the prices are quite reasonable.
The walk after the café stop will be about 1 hour 20 minutes, so we will be back at the cars at about 3:00. There is an option for a drink at the end at The Crown Inn (a wonderful building dating back to the late 1300s).
