Please note that we will be walking in the Surrey Hills, along sections of the North Downs Way. Each section of the walk involves an ascent.
A lovely circular walk from Newlands Corner on the North Downs Way across Albury Down up to St Martha’s Hill.
This entails a climb (to be taken at your own pace) up a sandy track to St Martha’s Church where we will take a leisurely elevenses and admire the stunning views across to the South Downs.
We continue with a loop through Chantries Wood, which involves a moderate climb on a good broad path, back up to the higher level and a picnic lunch stop and more stunning views across the Downs.
We follow lanes and farm tracks before a more gradual ascent back up to Albury Down and Newlands Corner.
Refreshments and toilets back at Newlands Corner.
Meet: Newlands Corner (free) car park, GU4 8SE, (where coffee and toilets are available) to start the walk at 10.30.
Note: For car share, please use the U3A Walking Group WhatsApp.
