Overview:
This is a 6.8 mile walk, that starts at 10am from a road with free parking.

The walk passes through The Savill Centre at 10.40am, so it is possible for people to join the walk there and just do a 3.5 mile circular walk.  Remember that parking at The Savill Centre is expensive, unless you have a Windsor Great Park Pass.

6.8 mile walk:
Because of the removal of free parking at Bishopsgate, we will meet to start the walk at the far end of Ridgemead Road, before the T-junction with Crimp Hill. (TW20 OYD gives an approximate location, but do check on a map).

Meet here to start the walk at 10.00am.

We will walk down Bishopsgate Road to enter the park at Bishopsgate.  This first section in the park is pleasant, flat walking, via Cow Pond to the Savill Centre.  Here toilets are available.  From here we pick up the other walkers and together we do the circular 3.5 mile (middle) section before walking back to the cars in Ridgemead Road.

3.5 mile walk:
Meet at the Savill Centre to start the walk at approx. 10.45am.  This section is undulating.

We leave Savill Garden, pass Obelisk Pond and walk along tree-lined paths to the top of the Valley Gardens, where we can stop for coffee and toilets - then through the gardens, down to Virginia Water Lake and back up through lovely woodland * to reach the Heather Gardens. 
*(There will be a choice of path at this point, for those of you wanting to avoid a hilly section.) 

From the Heather Gardens we retrace our steps along the wide path which leads us back to the Savill Centre, where we can stop for a drink and a bite to eat.  Picnic tables are available outside the centre. 

Notes:
We had aimed to keep the whole walk to about 5.5 miles but it proved difficult because of parking. If those of you who have already signed up now feel daunted at the prospect of 6.8 miles, you are welcome to join us at the Savill Centre.  We would reach there about 40 minutes into the walk.

Some of you may have a carpark pass for Windsor Great Park, or you may be happy to share the cost of parking with your car share.

3 hr - £9.60       
(4 hr - £12.60, but even with a coffee stop, we should be back at the carpark within two hours.)

Chris is happy to take her car to the Savill Centre and use her pass if it helps, or it may be possible to arrange a lift with another member who has a Windsor Great Park pass.

Our apologies if this sounds complicated, but we are trying to keep the walk accessible for those who have already shown an interest in it.
