Like all U3As, K2 is not a service provider. K2 is not a social club or an entertainment facility, although socialization and entertainment usually result from the learning process. K2 is a learning organization based upon self-help.

K2 has no paid tutors or organizers. Members get together and learn in groups – even if what is learnt is not retained for long! Everyone is a volunteer who does things out of the goodness of her or his heart. Group leaders and outing/holiday organizers are not professionals just U3A members, like the rest of us, trying to do something good for the membership.

Quite often the Group leaders and other organisers are limited in what they can offer owing to what is available. Not everything is necessarily within their control, therefore it is important to take this into consideration if things don't go quite to plan on occasions, or places are unavailable due to demand.
